Wear it at night.
See clearly all day.

Cilia is the lens your doctor prescribed. It works while your child sleeps, so their vision is clear from the moment they wake up, all day, without glasses or daytime lenses.

Nearsightedness in children gets worse with age

In most children, nearsightedness isn't static. The eye continues to elongate year after year, meaning prescription strength typically increases throughout childhood and into early adulthood.

The window to act is narrow

The years between ages 8 and 18 are when axial elongation is fastest. Slowing that growth during this period has meaningful long-term impact on your child's vision.

Fit is everything

A lens that doesn't match your child's corneal shape precisely won't work well, and won't be safe to use long-term. Cilia exists to solve the fit problem.

Why not just glasses?

It is a reasonable question. Glasses and standard contact lenses are safe, well-understood, and work well for day-to-day vision. But they address a different problem than Cilia does.

The limitation

Glasses and standard contact lenses correct blurry vision in the moment. They do not address the underlying process driving nearsightedness: the gradual elongation of the eye itself.

In children, that elongation continues year after year regardless of whether the prescription is kept up to date. Each worsening prescription is a sign that the eye has grown longer.

Severe nearsightedness, particularly beyond −6.00 diopters, is associated with elevated long-term risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration later in life. Slowing progression during childhood reduces that cumulative exposure.

The difference

Cilia works overnight. The lens gently reshapes the front surface of the cornea during sleep, providing clear unaided vision throughout the day.

Clinical studies show this mechanism also slows axial elongation (the physical growth of the eye) in children during the critical years between ages 8 and 18, when progression is fastest.

Because the lens is removed each morning, there is nothing to wear during the day. No restrictions on sports, swimming, or any other activity. The correction is reversible: if your child stops wearing Cilia, vision gradually returns to its previous state over several days to weeks.

AI-designed. Cornea-specific. Built for your child.

Glasses and contacts correct your child's vision. But they do nothing to slow the progression of nearsightedness. The eyes keep elongating, the prescription keeps climbing, and the risks that come with severe nearsightedness accumulate over time. Cilia works differently. Its AI maps your child's exact corneal geometry and calculates a lens designed specifically for their eyes, gently reshaping the cornea overnight and actively slowing axial elongation while they sleep.

The lens is worn for 8 hours overnight. While your child sleeps, it applies gentle, calibrated pressure that temporarily reshapes the central cornea. By morning, the correction holds, and their vision is clear all day without wearing anything.

The effect is not permanent. If your child stops wearing Cilia, vision gradually returns to its previous state. This is by design: the treatment is reversible, controllable, and monitored by your doctor at every step.

Trusted by eye care professionals.

Cilia is prescribed by certified practitioners who specialize in managing nearsightedness in children.

Most parents come in asking for stronger glasses. When I explain that glasses only correct vision while Cilia actively slows the progression, the difference becomes very clear to them.

Precisely matched to your child's cornea

Cilia AI models the exact geometry of your child's eye. Every lens is designed for one patient.

Glasses-free all day

Clear vision at school, during sport, during everything. Nothing worn during waking hours.

Protecting long-term vision

Clinically validated slowing of axial elongation during the years it matters most.

What the process looks like.

1
Day 1

Corneal mapping

Your doctor captures a detailed topographic scan of your child's cornea. This data goes directly into Cilia's AI.

2
Within days

AI fit modeling

Cilia calculates the optimal lens geometry and simulates the expected fit. Your doctor reviews and approves before any lens is made.

3
Week 1

First fitting

Your child tries the lens. The AI has already modeled the precise fit, so the experience is more comfortable and predictable than starting with off-the-shelf glasses.

4
Every 3 months

Ongoing monitoring

Follow-up appointments every 3 months. Your doctor tracks axial length progress and adjusts as your child grows.

Common questions.

What is nearsightedness?

Nearsightedness means the eye can focus clearly on things that are close, but objects at a distance appear blurry. It happens because the eye has grown slightly longer than normal, causing light to focus just in front of the retina instead of directly on it. It is one of the most common vision conditions in children worldwide, and in most cases it continues to worsen through childhood and adolescence.

Why didn't my child tell me their vision was blurry?

Children have no reference for what normal vision looks like. If their vision has always been blurry at a distance, they assume that is how everyone sees the world. Many children adapt without complaint: sitting closer to the board, squinting, or avoiding activities that involve seeing far away. They often go years without realizing something is wrong. It is not a failure of communication. They simply do not know to say anything.

What does "myopia" mean — is it the same as nearsightedness?

Yes, myopia is the clinical term for nearsightedness. They refer to exactly the same condition. Your doctor may use both terms interchangeably. You may also hear "myopia management" or "myopia control," which refers to treatments that aim to slow the progression of nearsightedness during childhood. That is what Cilia is designed to do.

Is nearsightedness hereditary?

Family history is a meaningful risk factor. If one parent is nearsighted, a child's likelihood of developing nearsightedness is noticeably higher. If both parents are nearsighted, the risk is higher still. That said, genetics is not destiny. Environmental factors like time spent outdoors and near-work habits also play a role. Children with nearsighted parents benefit most from early monitoring and, when appropriate, early intervention.

Will Cilia harm my child's eyes?

When fitted correctly and worn according to your doctor's instructions, with regular follow-up appointments, Cilia is safe. Complications are rare and the risk is further reduced by the precision of the AI fitting process. Your doctor will recommend check-ins every 3 months.

Will my child find it uncomfortable?

Some foreign body sensation is normal in the first few days of wear. Most children adapt within a week. If discomfort persists or worsens, contact your doctor.

What happens if my child stops wearing it?

The correction is not permanent. Vision gradually returns to its previous state over several days to weeks after stopping. There is no lasting structural change.

Are there any restrictions on my child's activities?

No. Cilia is worn overnight and removed each morning, so your child goes through the day completely lens-free, with no restrictions on sports, swimming, or any other activity. The only precaution is to avoid wearing the lenses in water, which is naturally handled by wearing them only during sleep.

What does the fitting process involve?

Your doctor will take a detailed topography scan of your child's cornea, a quick non-contact measurement that maps the surface of the eye. The AI then calculates the precise lens geometry needed. Your doctor reviews and approves the result before ordering. A follow-up visit within the first week confirms the fit and response.

How long before my child sees results?

Most children notice meaningful improvement within the first 1–2 weeks. For low to moderate prescriptions, where Cilia is optimally designed, stable daytime vision is typically achieved within 2–4 weeks.

Can adults wear Cilia?

Yes. While slowing nearsightedness progression in childhood is the primary focus, adults benefit from the same overnight correction. If you want clear daytime vision without glasses or daytime lenses, Cilia works equally well for adults. Ask your doctor whether it is right for you.
